Firmware version 5.0.0
Updating from 3.x takes one Software Update plus one restart of the device. After that restart, leave the RoboDot powered and connected to the Internet — it finishes the rest of the update by itself. See Firmware updates for the steps.
Version 5.0.0 is a ground-up rebuild of the RoboDot Touch firmware. It looks familiar on the surface — same touch screen, same web UI pages — but nearly every system underneath has been rebuilt for speed, reliability, and serviceability in the field.
A Software Update System That Takes Care of Itself
Updating no longer asks anything of you beyond a couple of taps:
- Check for Updates / Install Update right from the device's update page, with a live progress bar and log.
- Interrupted downloads resume where they left off — a weak phone hotspot mid-field is no longer a reason to postpone an update.
- Every update is verified before a single file is touched, and the device double-checks the installed set before restarting itself.
- If power is lost at the worst possible moment, the RoboDot recovers and finishes the installation on its own at the next boot.
WiFi That Falls Back Gracefully
When a hotspot or office network drops out, the RoboDot now returns cleanly to its own RoboDot_<serial> access point — connect to it and the web UI is right there, every time.
- New Keep Retrying option (next to Connect On Boot): the device quietly scans for your network and rejoins the moment it reappears. Ideal for permanent base installations.
- Your saved WiFi settings are always preserved through updates and setting changes.
Rock-Solid VRS Sessions
A brief satellite blockage — driving under a canopy, walking past a building — no longer risks your network correction session. The RoboDot keeps the caster informed through short fix outages, so VRS mounts stay connected instead of booting you mid-survey.
Base Station Upgrades
- Selectable RTCM output: MSM4 or MSM7 (Settings → Advanced). The caster mount point name follows your selection, so rovers see exactly what is being served.
- Faster, lower-latency corrections from a retuned receiver link.
Platform
- Multi-band ZED-X20P hardware support (new production units).
- Web UI pages load dramatically faster.
- Firmware version now shown right on the device's settings screen.
