# Stakeout

Stakeout guides you back to any recorded point — walk toward the target and watch the distance fall to zero. It runs in two places: a full-page plotter in the Web UI and a needle dial right on the RoboDot's touch screen. Both work **completely offline**: no internet, no map tiles, no app required.

Targets come from the sessions in the active job and from your saved Favorites — anything you have marked can be staked. Design points from the office can be staked too: **Import CSV** on the Files page loads them into the job.

Stakeout needs the device in Rover mode with a correction source for centimeter results. If the RoboDot is in another mode, the stakeout screen offers **Make Rover** right there.

## Web UI Stakeout page

1. Open **Stakeout** from the Web UI menu.
2. Pick a **Target** — use the **File** selector to narrow the list to one session, or search all points plus Favorites.
3. Walk. The plotter shows the target, your live position, and a direction arrow with the remaining distance broken into north/east components. As you close in, the view magnifies automatically for the final centimeters.

### Line mode

Switch **Mode** from _Point_ to _Line_ and pick two points, **Target** and **To**. Instead of guiding you to a single spot, the readout shows your **perpendicular offset** from the line through the two points and your **station** (distance along it) — the tool for staking fence lines, curb lines, and property boundaries.

## Touch screen Stakeout

No phone in hand? Tap the Home screen background to open the launcher and choose **Stakeout**:

* Pick a source: **All points**, **Nearest <1km** (every point on the card ranked by distance from where you stand), a single session by date, or **Faves**.
* Choose the target on the roller.
* The needle points at the target — hold the RoboDot with the screen up and the top of the screen facing north — while the big readout counts down the distance with north/east components.
* Inside **0.25 m** the dial becomes a bullseye: you are on the point.
