# Change Log

## Firmware version 5.0.22

Improved NTRIP/VRS connection robustness.

## Firmware version 5.0.21

Fixed an occasional restart when opening screens from the touchscreen selector.

## Firmware version 5.0.5

**5.0.5 — More dependable, start to finish**

**Radio firmware update (FW 8).** This release updates the firmware inside your RoboDot's radio, so your base keeps sending corrections reliably through long sessions. It installs on its own as part of the update; your device restarts once more to finish.

**Safer updates.** Your device now checks an update thoroughly before it changes anything, and tells you plainly when something needs your attention, such as a memory card that is full.

## Firmware version 5.0.0

:::warning
Updating from 3.x takes one Software Update plus one restart of the device. After that restart, leave the RoboDot powered and connected to the Internet — it finishes the rest of the update **by itself**. See [Firmware updates](robodot-touch-user-guide/firmware-updates) for the steps.
:::

Version 5.0.0 is a ground-up rebuild of the RoboDot Touch firmware — the biggest release in RoboDot history. It looks familiar on the surface, but nearly every system underneath has been rebuilt for speed, reliability, and serviceability in the field, and a set of brand-new field tools rides on top.

### Stakeout — On the Screen and In Your Browser

Walk back to any point you have ever recorded. The new [Stakeout](robodot-touch-user-guide/stakeout) tools guide you in live — a full-page plotter in the Web UI that magnifies as you close in, and a needle dial right on the RoboDot's touch screen that turns into a bullseye when you are within 25 cm. **Line mode** stakes fences and boundaries by showing your offset from a line through any two points. All of it works completely offline — no internet, no map tiles, no app.

### Orthometric Heights, Clearly Labeled

Load a geoid model and RoboDot shows **orthometric (sea-level) heights** live on the Status page and adds them to point exports — computed on the device, fully offline. Every orthometric number carries the geoid model that produced it (`412.301 (EGM96)`), so an ortho height can never be mistaken for an ellipsoidal one. See Heights & Orthometric Elevation.

### Jobs & Sessions

Field work is now organized into **jobs** on the SD card: each job keeps its own point files, observation logs, and exports, and every recording run becomes its own **session** you can filter by. Create and switch jobs from the Files page. Export a job's points as **CSV, GeoJSON, or DXF** — or **import a CSV** of design points and stake them. Favorites and point codes stay device-wide.

### Survey Shots from the Touch Screen

The new Survey screen puts a **Shoot** button on the device itself — mark a point at the current fix without pulling out a phone.

### See Your Sky

The new [Sky View](robodot-touch-user-guide/sky-view) page shows every tracked satellite on a live polar plot, colored by constellation, with per-satellite signal bars — judge a site's sky before you commit to it, and diagnose a stubborn Float in seconds.

### Drive It with AI

RoboDot's local web API is now fully documented as a **ready-to-use AI agent skill** — paste [AI Agent Control (Web API)](robodot-touch-applications/ai-agent-control-web-api) into Claude, a GPT, or your own tooling and control the device conversationally, or build custom interfaces on plain HTTP + JSON. No credentials ever pass through the agent.

### A Software Update System That Takes Care of Itself

Updating no longer asks anything of you beyond a couple of taps:

* **Check for Updates / Install Update** right from the device's update page, with a live progress bar and log.
* **Interrupted downloads resume where they left off** — a weak phone hotspot mid-field is no longer a reason to postpone an update.
* Every update is **verified before a single file is touched**, and the device double-checks the installed set before restarting itself.
* If power is lost at the worst possible moment, the RoboDot recovers and finishes the installation on its own at the next boot.

### Connection Profiles

Save your WiFi networks and VRS services as **named profiles** and switch between them from a dropdown — no more retyping credentials when moving between the office, a hotspot, and a job site. RoboGNSS-format credentials can be pasted straight in. See [Connection Profiles](robodot-touch-user-guide/connection-profiles).

### WiFi That Falls Back Gracefully

When a hotspot or office network drops out, the RoboDot now returns cleanly to its own `RoboDot_<serial>` access point — connect to it and the web UI is right there, every time.

* New **Keep Retrying** option (next to Connect On Boot): the device quietly scans for your network and rejoins the moment it reappears. Ideal for permanent base installations.
* Your saved WiFi settings are always preserved through updates and setting changes.

### Rock-Solid VRS Sessions

A brief satellite blockage — driving under a canopy, walking past a building — no longer risks your network correction session. The RoboDot keeps the caster informed through short fix outages, so VRS mounts stay connected instead of booting you mid-survey.

### Base Station Upgrades

* **Selectable RTCM output: MSM4 or MSM7** (Settings → Advanced). The caster mount point name follows your selection, so rovers see exactly what is being served.
* Faster, lower-latency corrections from a retuned receiver link.

### Faster Everywhere

* **File downloads up to 20× faster** — pulling a day of observations now takes seconds, not minutes.
* Web UI pages load dramatically faster.
* The rebuilt Map page adds **breadcrumbs** and a live position puck, and the survey workflow gains an embedded map of your shots.
* **Point codes**: one-tap code chips on the Rover page prefix your point identifiers consistently.

### Platform

* Multi-band **ZED-X20P** hardware support (new production units).
* New touch screen **launcher**: tap the Home screen background for one-tap access to Survey, Base, Stakeout, Files, and Settings — with the firmware version right in the header.

## Firmware version 3.2.7

:::warning
Updating to this version requires two software update cycles

### Touch Screen UI: Taking Control to the Next Level

Say goodbye to the days of deploying separate web devices to manage your RoboDot! The new interactive touch screen UI puts more power directly at your fingertips. Now you can:

* Adjust boot settings on the fly
* Connect to WiFi or VRS networks instantly
* Start and stop recording with a simple tap
* Average or Release a base position
* Configure many of the settings previously only available on the Web UI

### Expanded Compatibility

Interface with your favorite GIS and Survey applications more easily than ever before with improved connectivity. A new BLE Rover mode has been created for simplicity and stability.

### VRS Reconnection

When RoboDot Connects to the VRS as a client, if there is any disconnection it will automatically atempt to reconnect.

### Enhanced Navigation

Experience a fresh and snappy web UI that enhances user interaction with modern design and intuitive navigation, providing a seamless experience across all devices.

### Linking RoboDots

RoboDots can connect over the internet using RoboNet to deliver RTK corrections.
